State Fair Concert Series

The State Fair is pretty much the best thing ever. Fried food, footsie wootsies, thousands of products to test but never consider purchasing, farm equipment, goats, kettle korn and more, what’s not to like?

This years State Fair starts on Aug. 15th and I’ll give you a full review at that time, but for now let me introduce the proud group of performers lucky enough to grace this year’s main stage. Sure, people associate State Fair concerts with washed up losers, but if you think Grand Funk Railroad and Chicago (minus Peter Cetera) are washed up, then you’ve got some serious issues. (more…)

Sacramento Welcomes Pedallers

It’s time to start carbo-loading!

It has officially been announced that Sacramento will be the starting point for next February’s AMGEN Tour of California…which is kinda like the Tour de France except it happens in California. Not a bad score for us. (more…)

French Film Festival = Oh La La

Sometimes I feel like French films get unwarranted credit for being “artsy” just because they have subtitles. There’s just something about having to read the words on the bottom of the screen that lends artistic credibility to a film. Maybe it’s because you can’t actually watch the film if you’re reading the whole time.

It’s possible that the average French film, lauded as an amazing artistic achievement, would come across as just another “Daddy Day Care” if you understood French. (more…)

Welcome!!!

Hi folks!

This is me.

And this is my city.

If you can’t tell, that’s Sacramento and I’m about to put it to the test.

Contrary to what you may have heard, this blog is not just an excuse for me to drink beer. It’s also an excuse for me to drink whiskey. Kidding.

This blog is actually a totally legitimate endeavor.

As a Sacramento tourism professional, it’s important for me to get out there and test “the product.” So I’m gonna see what this old town – and the region in general – has to offer. From the classiest restaurants to the diviest dive bars and from the opera to whatever the opposite of the opera is, I’m gonna do it all. I’ll take on the food, the music, the festivals, the art, the entertainment, the tourists, the history, the transportation and everything else.

Like all people, or most people, or at least some people I have a desire to know what makes my city tick. Through my endeavors, I hope to find what makes Sacramento Sacramento.

In short, it’s excuse to drink beer.
