Oktoberfest!

Guten tag!
Last weekend I enjoyed the first, I hope of many, Oktoberfest celebrations right here in Sacramento.
This one was hosted by the Sacramento Turn Verein and was a good ol’ time.
Giant pretzels, pitchers of beer, lederhosen everywhere, at least four kinds of sausage, kindly old Germans and Jager shots – it’s just a fantastic time.
I’d also like to make a plea to any local restauranteurs: We need a German restaurant in town! Ever since Sudwerk got demolished and turned into a bank, I haven’t been able to find a good pretzel or schnitzel…or a gigantic beer. Not that Sudwerk was amazing, but at least it was something.
Anyhow, on October 18th there will be at least a couple more potentially awesome Oktoberfest celebrations.
The first is hosted by Sacramento Brewing Company and will feature a selection of Oktoberfest style beers made right here in our fair city. Someone probably should have called it “Sactoberfest.”
The other is being hosted by the midtown block now curiously known as “the bloc”. Those of us that have lived in Sacramento for greater than 6 months know it simply as “the block where Harlow’s is.” Silly name aside, this should be a great Oktoberfest option.
And now for your amusement: Chevy Chase!
Prost!
