I am not a runner. Whenever I run my feet ache, my knees fail, I can’t breathe and I want to die, but for some reason I do the Run to Feed the Hungry every year. I suppose it’s to feed the hungry.
For those who don’t know, the Run to Feed the Hungry happens every Thanksgiving Day morning in East Sacramento. About a kerjillion people participate becuase it’s a great way to feel like a real humanitarian while legitimizing a couple extra ladles of gravy. (more…)
The Golden Bear is the cool kid in town. It’s too hip for the brainless nightclub scene, but too trendy for true dive bar status. It’s where midtown hipsters with $200 haircuts go to drink $2 beers. I’ve been going for years now and the Golden Bear is too cool to have even noticed. (more…)
It was only a matter of time before the ABC’s of Drinking brought me to an Irish and/or British pub. We have a number of such joints in Sacramento and it turns out they are open year-round – not just on St. Patrick’s Day or during the World Cup.

Even though I haven’t seen her for almost a decade, I am sure she is still awesome. Sadly, though, I just learned (I’m not sure how far out of the loop I am on this) that Liz has brain cancer. It absolutely pains me to even type those words.
“The Liz Army” is, from what I can tell, a large group of friends, family and people like me who haven’t seen her for many years who have come together to support Liz in her cancer fight.
Many of those supporters are members of our local music scene and on Nov. 6th at Harlow’s many of them will come together for The Liz Army’s benefit show.
The show is cheap and it’s for a good cause so (more…)
