M is for Marilyn’s
Marilyn’s on K
K Street
Sacramento

Sacramento’s live music scene has had a bumpy ride over the past decade. The Increasing popularity of cover bands and DJs combined with tough noise and liquor restrictions have made the road to citywide local celebrity a tough one for many a local garage band.
Though not easy at times, Marilyn’s has stood strong as an oasis for for Sacramento’s music lovers. A few years back, they even went through the trouble of moving 3 blocks down the street from their old location. (more…)
L is for L (no joke)
L Wine Lounge & Urban Kitchen
1801 L Street
Sacramento
The L Wine Lounge is another reason why L Street is quickly becoming a drinker’s street of dreams. As an added bonus, they don’t just serve wine. They have a full liquor selection and an “urban kitchen.”
It’s important to label the kitchen as “urban” because people often think a wine lounge connected to a massive upscale condo development on a busy street in the middle of a major metropolitan area is too rural. (more…)
K is for Kasbah
Kasbah

I’m not sure if you’ve heard, but sometimes the Middle East isn’t a safe place to be. It’s especially unsafe if you’re James Bond and you’re working your way through “From Russia with Love” or “The Spy Who Loved Me.” To his credit, despite the danger lurking around every corner, Bond is always finding great lounges filled with exotic women, high rollers and shady characters who are probably out to kill him.
I don’t know if lounges like that really exist in the Middle East. I’ve also seen enough of the news to all but cross the Middle East off my list of places to visit, so I’ll probably never find out. Oh, and I don’t know how we determined the Middle East to be the Middle East and not, say, the Far West, but whatever.
Anyhow, if you want a lounge filled with Bond-eqsue intrigue, but without any actual danger, I recommend handcuffing a briefcase to your wrist and heading to the Kasbah. There is even the potential for exotic women as the lounge features nightly belly-dancing.
Free Museum Day
This Saturday from 10am-4pm is Sacramento’s annual Free Museum Day! That means all of Sacramento’s twenty-something museums will be open free to the public. Of course, some of the museums are free all the time anyhow and others only charge a couple bucks, but still this is a nice gesture on the part of the Sacramento Association of Museums and Umpqua Bank.
