Rich Hill has gone to a place where the word "summer" is a verb, and he is "summering" better than anybody. Hill, who will be entering his fourth season as Cal Lutheran baseball coach, is spending his summer coaching the Chatham baseball team in the Cape Cod League, and he has led the A's to a record and their first divisional title since The Cape Cod League, which boasts strictly college players, is one of the top amateur leagues in the nation and is located in one of the most desirable vacation areas on the East Coast. Hill is paid for coaching the A's, and he and his wife Lori, who teaches fourth grade in Thousand Oaks, also receive the use of a cottage near a Chatham pond. He began his Cape Cod League career in as an assistant for the Brewster Whitecaps and was last year in his first season as Chatham's coach.

Cape Cod Baseball League: Welcome Page
The Cape Cod Baseball League is the premier amateur baseball league in the nation since Following a decade of using aluminum bats, the Cape League became the first collegiate summer league to use wooden bats in and became even more popular with major league scouts and college players and coaches and still is to this day! The Cape League embarks this June for its rd season, featuring a game regular-season schedule and an action-packed postseason made up of best-of-three quarterfinal, semifinal and championship series. The Cape League is recognized as the best amateur summer leagues in the country by college coaches and professional baseball scouts. Players from across the USA and representing all college divisions are recruited to play in the team loop. Last year we broke the mark with active Cape League Alumni playing in the big leagues and more then 1, all-time alumni performing at all levels of professional baseball. Summer at the Cape
June is here, which means Cape Cod Baseball League action is just around the corner. The regular season runs until early August, with the playoffs extending into the middle of August. You might even have to choose a favorite team to support, based on where on the Cape you end up buying. The CCBL dates back to , and over that time, it has become perhaps the nation's top amateur league.
The games were well attended and people sat on the grassy hill overlooking the field or in their cars parked along the first base side. At one time the team was called the Cottage Club, derived from the many summer cottages that were built at Falmouth Heights and where the players were lodged. During the early years, games were primarily played against off Cape teams from Southeastern Massachusetts.
